Lucia

We were all a little sick on Lucia Day, so we couldn't attend the Lucia celebrations at the Swedish Church as we usually do, but we had fun anyway and stayed home baking Lussekatter followed by some kubb in the backyard.

Italian Day

Today is Italian Day at school. That means everyone comes dressed up as something that has to do with Italy (duh) and get pizza and gelato for lunch.

James first wanted to be a roman emperor, but we couldnt really find anything at home that worked. He then went as Michelangelo. I assume he will paint the cealings this afternoon like the Sistine Chapel in Rome...

Alicia, apparently, is now too big for dressing up..

1st Sunday of Advent

Finally - Xmas is here again!!! We celebrated 1st of Advent by going to church to listen to Alicia singing in the choir and then back home to open the xmas boxes and decorating the house together. And made Swedish gingerbread cookies of course. And drinking glogg!!!

And it was not today. Another day. LAst week I think. But i forgot to add the post then lol... Oh and I shouldnt have admitted to that mistake.

Immunisation completed

Alex had his 4 year old needles yesterday. He was so good, thank god for that. Just looked at the needles penetrating his gorgeously soft skin without blinking. Yay!!!! He got heaps of stickers and bubbles for being such a good champ!

Rolling over

Jr has learnt to roll over - it's so great to see them develop into little ppl instead of just a baby who poos and farts. Well he still does that obviously. But now he poos farts and rolls. Good stuff.

Park

Just got back from the playground with Alex. It started pissing down so we had to run back which was loads of fun wasn't it...not.

I must stress that Alex misses his Swedish grandma immensely. You see, when she was here last she took him to the park but let him side in a toy car there and back and she pushed him along on the road (ppl waving and smiling). His mean and neglecting mother on the other hand thinks that that sorta thing is for grandparents only. Alex does not agree. But who wears the pants in this family? YEAH MOI!!! lol

Kids back

School holidays here and the three oldest spent a week up in sunny Queensland at their grandmother's. Daniel and myself were stuck in cold rainy Melbourne....

But all smiles when they came home again!

School starts again on Monday and that's not good news according to Alicia. School's apparently not that fun anymore lol.

Anglesea

SCHOOL CAMP '09

We've been to the annual Swedish School Camp in Anglesea again. It was great fun as usual and the kids thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Alex stayed home with Chris and it was just the rest of us. Good idea as that boy has no sense at the moment... takes off, explores forests full of snakes and dives with sharks LOL. Well not really, but you get my point, not a child I can just leave to play on his own.

James liked the bow and arrow the best and Alicia preferred playing beach volley ball. I enjoyed not actually working on the camp for the first year as I had Daniel with me hence just came along as a parent! Not Bad!

Daniel

Ah the weeks fly... growing up heaps! A month old now and finally starting to have a few hours in between feeds during the night... at least three! YAY!

He's a very alert baby, talkative and smiling... all those things that make you forgive and forget all the bad nights. Natures way of making sure you don't throw the baby away after a few weeks I guess LOL.

James' 7th

James really wanted a sleep-over party for about 20 little wild 7-year olds, but his mum wasn't too keen on that idea. Especially with a little newborn in the house!

So he had to choose a party venue somewhere and reduce the number of children to 12. It was a tough job and took him nearly 2 weeks, but he finally decided on a bowling party. And he came up with a golden rule: Alicia and Alex where not allowed to come! Well I don't blame him really lol... but Daniel was allowed to come which was good considering his food stays with his mum (bloody dairy cow I feel like). Anyway, he had a ball and Alex chucked a wobbly when his brother came home a few hours later with a sack of pressies and started open them on the kitchen floor. All in front of him! Ah it's hard being 3 sometimes...

26/07/2009

So finally he's here our new perfect little family member...

A big chunk of 3900g and 54 cms it's freaking hard to believe he could fit in my seemingly small pregnacy bumb. But he did! And even better, he came out too! Born at 3.45pm on 26/7 after... ONE push (oh jesus have i been stretched to the max before by any chance?) .

Older siblings are very proud and it feels strange but wonderful to have another baby in the house!

Mormor

Mormor has finally arrived and its bliss for the very pregnant mother...

Here she is reading the bedtime story after feeding me smorgastarta - perfect!

First Tooth Lost

James finally lost his first tooth! He's been very upset that he's the last one in his class, but now feels very happy indeed.

And... just a four days later he lost another three teeth so now he has trouble talking properly... hahahaha

We celebrated midsummer with the other Swedes as usual at the Swedish Church here in Melbourne. It was a pretty ordinary day, most likely not too far from the weather in Sweden... there is something about this particular day and crappy weather... oh well, we had fun, made flower wreaths, sang and danced around the pole and ate svensk jordgubbstarta. YUM.

Football

Alicia has started soccer and is loving it. Unfortunately the matches on Sundays tend to be rather early and the weather rather chilly. However, nothing that a little coffee and smiles cannot fix. Alicia's team is called Mornington and is the orange groovy looking team. Alicia herself is somewhere in the midst of the lot, I can see her, can u? (ok then, fine, it's the stunning girl on the right of the three orange ones in the front)

Its so nice having the children back again! It's school holidays and they've all been visiting their grandpa for a week... but now they are back!

Easter as usual of course with witches and Swedish Easter eggs with lollies inside.... yummo!

sad day

I cannot believe a whole month has passed since my brother arrived... we've done heaps of traveling around and today's drive to the airport will be quite sad indeed. WE WILL MISS YOU ANDREAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wine tasting...

Andreas is finally here and we spent today touring the wine district on the Mornington Peninsula. With kids. Haha. Had a great time, although I'd love to have been tasting some myself...

He seemed to enjoy the free wine and the kids enjoyed their time when it was finally time to leave the vineyards for the playground!

Alicia 10 years

OMG Alicia has turned 10 and that fact is about to provide me with a loevly little midlife crisis!!

As usual we celebrated in the morning with pressies on the birthday mat followed by cake for brekky. The girl in question had ordered princess cake from Ikea so that's what provided us all with the required nutrients for the morning. That and coffee of course.

We had a treasure hunt at night and her friends are coming over tomorrow night for a sleep-over party. Why oh why did I agree on such a girl-giggle-all-night event when I cannot even calm my nerves with wine!!!!??

Creatures

The common disgusting looking Huntsman spider is a common visitor in our house.

"I like spiders because they look scary and other people get scared and I like that!" JAMES

"I do not like spiders because they look ugly and have too many eyes and aren't good friends." ALICIA

"I don't like spiders, but green snakes." ALEX

We will stay indoors for most of the day I think, as it will hit 41 degrees... sometimes I actually miss Good Old Swedish SLASK!!!!!!

Bike ride

It's good to have the kids back again!!!

We took the bikes to the village today. Usually it's only Alicia and James who take their bikes and Alex has the pram or walks. This time though he was persistent that he would bring his little bike too. Of course I knew what was coming.... so I brought the pram with me... and not long after we'd left he was tired and did'nt want to be on it anymore. He pushed it along for a little while, then I had to load it up in the stroller...

Home safe after an hour and a half (!) the sockerkaka is in the oven and I can smell coffee!!! Remind me again why I have so many children.... hahahaha

Aus Open

Missing the kids tremendously, but thanks to the open it is easier to survive the week without them!

Went to the tennis yesterday, and it was a great day. Way too hot though... 35 degrees... and luckily i'm not going today cos it's 40!

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Today was a real scorcher - 37 degrees! No other option but to head to the beach to cool down a little. We ended up spending the whole day swimming and playing at Rosebud Beach. No relief in sight though as tomorrow promises 39 degrees... phew...
"We saw people that were sunburnt and more people that were sunburnt. And a huge dead jellyfish that wasn't sunburnt. But dead."ALICIA

Melbourne Museum

We took the train from Frankston to the city today and visited the Melbourne Museum. The kids had lots of fun and we spent over 3 hours there examining all the different displays. Most fun was to play archeologists and find the remains from dinosaurs in the special sandpit using little brushes.

Mini-golf

Today we tried mini-golf... it was great fun and actually worked with all three (Alex included!). I personally don't think I've played since I was a kid myself, and... well.. that showed. Came last. It was a great success however and James scored 2 hole in ones and Alicia 1 hole in one. Alex put a few balls down the hole with his bare hands, don't think that counts, but he was very proud of himself!

Kids are home again!

I hate it when I can't have the kids with me... but they had a great time visiting their grandpa and I guess I got to sleep in a little. LOL

They spent the morning drawing and catching up on some Sune's sommar on dvd. I spent the morning kissing and cuddling, and watching Sune of course. I love Rudolf, he's such a freakshow. Both Alicia and James like HÃ¥kan the best. Alex hates the show all together.

NYE 2008

We celebrated New Years Eve in the centre of Melbourne at our friends' apartment overlooking the city - a perfect spot for a party indeed.
I asked the kids this morning what they liked the most about last night's party and these are the answers I got...:

"The fireworks and talking to the 'Carrot Machine' when he played pool." ALICIA

"When the people upstairs threw down wine and party stuff and when we watched the grown-ups playing pool and I got to have a go." JAMES

"We watched fireworks and it was scary because it can come in my eyes and we ate chips and lime crush." ALEX
